Photo Processing options
I have long been a fan of Photo Mechanic, a photo browser software from Camera Bits. Its fast, flexible, and a great way to rename files, put metadata in the file, and rank images. Aperture 3 from Apple has taken over these functions for me since it was announced last fall. Today, Apple announced the Mac Apps Store, a takeoff of the hugely popular iTunes App Store for the iPhone and iPad. With that announcement, Apple announced a new low price for Aperture on the store — $80.00! (Retail box copy is $199)
Aperture 3 performs the task of PhotoMechanic and most of the functions I use PhotoShop for… importing files, ranking files, metadata, editing, and search functions in the database. It also creates slideshows, books, calendars, and prints. For $80, its a real steal….
